  3.           PINCHING THE LENS OFF THE  INFERIOR  SCLERA

  5. Control the patient's lids in the 
  6. same way as when placing the 
  7. lens on the cornea.
  8.  
  9. Instruct the patient to look up.
  10.  
  11. Using your index finger gently slide 
  12. the lens off the cornea onto the 
  13. sclera
  14.  
  15. Remove the lens by gently 
  16. "pinching" it between the thumb 
  17. and index finger of your dominate 
  18. hand.
  19.  
  20. Try to leave a slight space between your thumb and index finger as you pinch it out so that the lens folds instead of creases or tears.
